they did long ago, and decided to leave, observing from afar.  time and time again, the human race has proven unworthy to know god directly.

it's not an exclusively christian concept, nor is it a one time event.  this is the culmination of a lifetime's (or many lifetimes') spiritual work, like being drafted to the nba.  indians call these chosen ones buddhas, muslims believe mohammed was.  ancient egyptians had an entire complex process that they believed gave their pharoahs a ship to heaven.  a long time ago, some people believed they could accomplish this themselves, thus the tower of babil story.

why not worship saints?

because humans don't create souls: souls are implanted at birth.  in kaballah, ruach means "soul breath".  and maimonides once said that honoring ones parents is the toughest of all commandments.

that is an archetype: pure evil incarnate.  the closest i've seen was in london this summer.  and it blows the usual suspects (obama, hitler, napoleon, etc.) out of the water.

there's a bit of legend and actual evidence in the martial arts.  take a look at karate, kung fu (xi gong), and ninjutsu.  ohhhhh... ha doo ken!

at face value, this statement is incorrect.  it really depends on how someone lives.  it's possible to do work that brings about a great amount of wealth and makes a positive impact on the world.  it's also possible to get rich by lying, cheating, stealing, and taking advantage of others.  it's possible to do great work while accumulating almost no wealth.  and it's also possible to be a poor and evil person at the same time.  and worst of all are the spiritual materialists: those who shun off all business/wealth because they are somehow "holier" than that type of work.

this writer is wealthy enough and simply not interested enough to try and accumulate more wealth.  though if anyone has cash burning a hole in their pockets, by all means, donate!

certainly, it's a ghost story.  there have been many throughout history.  special, but not that special.  i thought i saw something at barney's beanery (known to be haunted) the other time as well
